(AP) ? The discovery of a 51st victim Friday two days after Argentina's deadliest train wreck in decades left the man's family devastated and prompted rock-throwing and other violence by protesters holding vigil at the scene.

The search for 20-year-old Lucas Menghini Rey, whose body was missed in Wednesday's chaotic rescue effort, brought a sharp focus to widespread anger over the crash, which also injured 703 of the 1,500 people on the packed train.

Family and friends collapsed together at the news, while others keeping vigil at the station erupted in anger. Some shouted "throw them all out, not one should remain!" The phrase became iconic during the protests of a decade ago, when public outrage over a failed economy forced a series of presidents to resign.

Riot police responded with tear gas and batons, clearing the station and making arrests. At least one officer was bloodied, and dozens of youths threw objects at passing buses and taxis. Some started small fires and looted stores in the station as Menghini Rey's family and friends left in tears.

The cause remains unclear. The motorman, who could face criminal charges for failing to stop in time, was allowed to go home Friday after giving his statement to the investigative judge, his union's spokesman told the local Diarios y Noticias news agency.

But many commuters are furious that President Cristina Fernandez's government has apparently ignored repeated warnings about inoperable or missing brake equipment and other safety threats. And many suspect corruption and mismanagement contributed to the tragedy.

Menghini Rey hadn't appeared on any lists of dead or injured, about 30 of whom remain hospitalized, and city officials announced Friday that all other passengers had been accounted for. His body was found wedged in the crumpled motorman's chamber of the fourth car after Security Minister Nilda Garre personally took over and ordered police back to the wreck, searching "even in the most impossible places," Telam reported.

Inside the station, his family and friends had stacked boxes plastered with his picture and numbers to call, along with the phrase "we are as fragile as cardboard," a feeling shared by many after seeing how the massive train cars crumpled and crushed hundreds of passengers inside.

Menghini Rey's family hadn't seen him since he said goodbye early that morning to his 3-year-old daughter, promising to bring her a toy when he came back from work at a downtown call center, his friend Fernando Diaz told The Associated Press.

But rumors flew that he had survived. One city official even said he had been seen by psychiatrists at a hospital who released him into the streets, and that he might have been suffering from shock and post-traumatic stress.

Argentina's third deadly train accident in less than a year has focused attention on the dilapidated passenger rail system, privatized in 1995 and heavily subsidized by the government since then to keep ticket prices low.

Hard stops are common around the world, rail experts say, so modern cars are designed to avoid the crumpling that can happen when the lead car hits a barrier. But these cars were built decades ago and bought as refurbished castoffs from other urban rail systems.

So when the eight-car train slammed into the end of the line at less than 12 mph (20 kph), a shock-absorbing bumper kept the front of the train intact. , the cars behind it slammed into each other, shoving the second car, with hundreds of people standing inside, deeply into the first. Rescuers had to use Vaseline and cooking oil to untangle the living and dead.

Argentina boasted the continent's most modern trains in the early 20th century, but they were in decline for decades before the system was privatized in the 1990s by President Carlos Menem, who promised much better service.

The family-run Trains of Buenos Aires company got the concession that includes the Sarmiento line. Repeated audits since then determined that the TBA hasn't fulfilled its contract.

The tragedy "is a direct consequence of the failure to comply with basic standards" that were identified in a 2008 report by the nation's Auditor General, said the watchdog office's chief, Leandro Despouy.

That report details multiple problems with brake systems: missing emergency brake levers and inoperable hand brakes and brake cylinders. It was presented that year to the presidency and the congress. No one did anything, complained Despouy, whose main political support comes from a minority party, the Radical Civic Union.

TBA trains director Roque Cirigliano said human error could have caused the crash, but union spokesman Horacio Caminos pointed to systemic failures, and presented a chilling audio recording of the dialogue between the control room and another motorman on the same line, just 24 hours after the tragedy.

The audio, played by the America 24 channel Friday night, captured a motorman repeatedly complaining of brake trouble and suggesting his trip should be canceled if the brakes can't be checked at the next stations. Instead, the controller orders him to finish the trip with passengers on board, and then return empty to the other end of the line.

Meanwhile, justice has moved slowly in the case of Ricardo Jaime, who resigned as transportation minister after Argentine media revealed that he had accepted free flights to Brazilian vacations from TBA executives while deciding how much the company would get in government subsidies. He remains outside of jail while awaiting trial on bribery charges.

The government said it won't decide on the TBA's future until the courts take action.

Fernandez has been silent since the tragedy, and her ministers have declined to take questions at news conferences on the government response. She left the capital Friday for her home in Calafate, in Argentina's remote Patagonia region. The President of Paraguay, Fernando Lugo, planned to see her there after meeting with survivors from his country.

The president's absence became another sore point on social networks. One Argentine's Twitter message, frequently re-tweeted, said "Mrs. President of the Nation, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, please, come back to Buenos Aires: show that it hurts you as it does us."

Another compared her to Chile's president: Sebastian "Pinera was there until they rescued the last miner. CFK left to Calafate."

Romney struggling to attract white working class (AP)

WASHINGTON ? Republican Mitt Romney is faltering with white working-class voters crucial to his party's drive to capture the White House, even as he tries to fend off a rising GOP challenger, Rick Santorum, who wields strong blue-collar appeal.

The wealthy former Bain Capital chief has led his rivals by comfortable margins among white college graduates, according to combined polls of voters in the first five states that held presidential nominating contests. But the exit and entry surveys showed only a modest Romney advantage among whites who lack college degrees, the yardstick analysts typically use to define the working class.

The imbalance was most pronounced among less-educated white men, with whom his lead disappeared.

More recent polling bears out the same problem for Romney. According to a national poll of Republicans released this week by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center, the former Massachusetts governor has a slender lead over Santorum among whites with degrees but trails him among working-class whites, 36 percent to 23 percent.

Romney's lukewarm performance with less-educated whites could haunt him in the Feb. 28 Michigan primary. Though it's Romney's native state, Santorum is using his upbringing in the western Pennsylvania manufacturing town of Butler, his rougher-edged style and his "Made in America" proposals for boosting U.S. manufacturing to woo Michigan's many blue-collar voters.

Romney's weakness with working-class whites is a liability he would also have to address as the nominee. GOP presidential candidates often need big margins from this group to offset weaker support from others.

"It has to be a concern," said GOP pollster John McLaughlin, who is not working for a presidential candidate. "What these voters are looking for is, `Tell me how you're going to help my life.' If we can't articulate that, then we're going to lose."

Some voters view Romney as "an ultra-wealthy individual," said David Hill, another GOP pollster who is not working in the presidential race. "They have a sense he cannot identify with ordinary Americans. He'll have ample time over the course of campaigning in the general election to rectify that."

The sometimes-staid Romney is already trying to do just that.

He recently described his father as a carpenter who could spit nails out of his mouth "pointy end forward," without mentioning that George Romney became CEO of the American Motors Corp. and governor of Michigan. He also described how rising fuel and food prices have been "tough for middle-income families in America," and said the country needs a president with "experience in a factory or experience in a workplace" who can understand how to create jobs.

Romney also generally supports increases in the minimum wage, which should appeal to blue-collar voters.

Santorum, son and grandson of Italian immigrants, has a more personal connection to working-class voters that he's always ready to discuss. He cites his childhood living in apartments provided by the Veterans Administration, where his father worked as a psychologist, and never misses an opportunity to discuss his grandfather.

"My grandfather was a coal miner. I grew up in a steel town, with blue-collar roots," the now well-off former Pennsylvania senator said Tuesday in Boise, Idaho.

Strategists and political scientists attribute Romney's problem partly to his personal wealth and financier background and a string of statements his opponents have used to characterize him as an out-of-touch patrician. He has jokingly called himself unemployed, said he knows what it is like to fear a pink slip and characterized his $373,000 earnings from paid speeches as "not very much" money.

Romney has also been hurt by his tax returns. They show he pays around 15 percent of his income in taxes ? less than many middle-income families ? and has placed some assets in Swiss bank accounts and other exotic locations like the Cayman Islands.

"There's no identification, no connection that he makes with some of these voters," said Terry Madonna, a political scientist and pollster at Franklin & Marshall College.

Campaigning Thursday in Michigan, Romney renewed his call for stronger "right-to-work" laws, which bar workplaces from requiring employees to join a labor union.

At a roundtable discussion in Monroe, Romney also was careful to praise unions, citing the carpenters' union for helping workers improve their skills. "But I believe union and non-union shops should compete on a level playing field" for government contracts, Romney said.

Romney pollster Neil Newhouse said his candidate's early showing with the working class has been "a soft spot" because Santorum and Gingrich have targeted those same voters. That won't translate to Election Day, Newhouse said.

"The general election will be about President Obama and his accomplishments and lack thereof," Newhouse said.

Combined figures for the first five states to vote ? Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida and Nevada ? show ideology was also a factor. Just 22 percent of Romney's votes came from working-class whites who consider themselves very conservative. Santorum got 52 percent of his votes from that group and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Romney's biggest rival at the time, got 45 percent.

In those early contests, Romney led Gingrich by 43 percent to 28 percent among whites who completed college, the polls show.

That gap shrank to a 39 percent-to-33 percent Romney advantage among whites without college degrees. White men who haven't graduated college tilted 37 percent to 33 percent toward Gingrich.

Romney's 20-percentage-point advantage over Gingrich among white female college graduates in those states falls slightly, to 15 points, among less educated white women.

Santorum swept GOP presidential contests in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri last week. There were no exit polls in those races, but the combined surveys for the first five states show Santorum, who had not yet built momentum as a candidate, trailing both Romney and Gingrich badly among white working-class voters.

Ironically, Romney's problem echoes an even more serious weakness that candidate Barack Obama showed in 2008 when trying to reach those same working-class white voters.

Obama lost them badly in the Democratic primaries to rival Hillary Rodham Clinton before losing them by 18 percentage points to GOP candidate Sen. John McCain that November. Obama remedied that by coming close among white college graduates and prevailing overwhelmingly among minorities.

Republicans want to drive their margin among working-class whites as high as possible this year to offset Obama's advantage with minorities. Working-class whites comprise around 4 in 10 voters in recent general elections.

Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt says Romney will be hurt among these voters by his background at Bain, the private equity firm, whose corporate buyouts sometimes eliminated jobs.

"The essential question of the election is, `Who's going to restore economic security for the middle class?'" LaBolt said.

The data is based on surveys conducted for The Associated Press and the television networks by Edison Research as voters arrived at or left randomly selected sites in this year's GOP caucuses and primaries in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida and Nevada. The results of the five surveys were combined and each was weighted to reflect its share of the votes cast.

The combined survey involved interviews with 11,376 voters and had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 1 percentage point.

How does modesty keep us living longer? First what is modesty?

?

So what is modesty? There is a seemingly cute but exceedingly wise statement in the Talmud?Bavli?Tractate?Eruvin 100b ?"If the Torah had not been given, we would have learned tzni'ut (modesty) from a cat."

While traditional Judaism places emphasis on modesty as in the way one dresses , or relates to the opposite sex, tzni'ut, in?this study of derek eretz, refers to humility.?

?Moses ?is referred to as "exceedingly humble, more than any man in the world" (Num.12:3). The Talmud states that humility is one of the desired?characteristic traits of the Jewish people (Bavli Tractate Yevomot ?79a). Humility is a sign of Godly strength and purpose, not weakness. "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble" (Proverbs 3:34). Humility allows us to understand that we are all connected? with notions of transcendent unity with the universe or the Divine, and of becoming egoless.

The rabbis teach that the man who thinks he can live without others is mistaken; the one who thinks others can't live without him is even more deluded.?Hence humility is a desirable trait because it creates in us the capacity to truly love God and our fellows.?

It is our ego that separates us from God and our fellows. If we have a resentment towards someone, chances are, the Talmud teaches, as well as psychiatrists, that we see in that person a defect of character, that we have. We would rather shun or hold a grudge to that person, than work on that defect in ourselves.

?

"I stood between God and you" (Deuteronomy 5:5). Moses?is telling Israel that he was an?intermediary between God and them at Sinai.

?

But let us?look at the verse literally. "I'' (ego) actually is a barrier, that?stands between, God and us.

?

Anochi is the Hebrew word used for 'I."

?

While God wants us to have a healthy self esteem, that is earned by doing His will, God does not appreciate fake humility, self anointment,?and vanity.? "A vain person is one I cannot bear" (Psalms 101:5).

?

Jacob?said to Isaac when he was pretending he was Esau: ?"It is I, Esau your firstborn" (Genesis 27:19).?? Anochi was used here.

?

The sages teach that the idea of wanting to be the "big man" , being an "I," is a trait of Esau. Esau is not one of our seven shepherds, ushpizin, who visited us?in our Sukkot .

?

Jacob's self-concept was expressed in his statement "I am too small (undeserving) of all the kindnesses You have done for me" (Genesis 32:11).? Jacob is Tiferet. This word symbolizes adornment, humility, even spirituality. ?He was in harmony with all.?Jacob went with?God's flow. (paraphrased from

?

?

I'd like to leave you with a quote on Humility, by Dr. Robert Smith, of the 20th century, USA. ?"Humility is having perpetual quietness of heart. It is to have no trouble. It is never to be fretted or vexed, irritable or sore; to wonder at nothing that is done to me, to feel nothing done against me .? It is to be at rest when nobody praises me, and when I am blamed or despised, it is to have a blessed home in myself where I can go in and shut the door and pray to?God in secret and be at peace, as in a deep sea of calmness, when all around and about is seeming trouble. "

?

So we can see that not being modest with over-the-top ego, can set us apart from our fellows and spirituality, with all kinds of stressful problems ensuing. And since we know that continual stress can take years off of our lives, we can understand why the sages teach that modesty ensures longevity.

''?Love the pious, in order that you may be saved from the black angel.'' What is the black angel? It is not outside of us. It is our yetzer ha ra, our inclination to ignore what is good behaviorally. The sages even let us know that God has a yetzer ha ra, and they define it as Satan.

When we love and hence spend much time with pious? spiritual people, we learn their ways. Rather than reading derek eretz, we see it practiced. It is easy to read to ignore wrongs done to us, but hard to learn how to do. When we see?a spiritual person actually live this way,?we?truly learn.?By spending time with spiritual folk who actual live what they teach, is another level of teaching us, so that it keeps us spiritually fit.

"Be careful in the reading of Shema, and prayer in general, in order that you be saved from Gehenna.'' When the Talmud discusses the?Shema in Tractate Berachot, the rabbis are not just referring to the "Hear oh Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One,'' but to all the paragraphs that come after it, that many call the "V'Ahavtah", aka "You shall love the Lord your God..."

Truly understanding and believing the first sentence, put our lives into perspective. The rest of the verses is a check list for us. Are we really loving? God and our fellows...at home, on the road, in work, etc? This questioning ourselves when praying? is Tephila, the Hebrew word for prayer, but meaning self judgement.

Tephila, are self-judging prayers. As King David said in Psalm 16:07: "I bless God who is my counselor, but in the night, my inmost self instructs me." We will start off a prayer of tephila , which is the prayer that the entire Talmud begins to study in its first Tractate, Beracoth.? Judge yourself with the Shema:

Deuteronomy 6:4-9

Sh'ma Yis'ra'eil Adonai Eloheinu Adonai echad.

Hear, Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One.

In an undertone:

Barukh sheim k'vod malkhuto l'olam va'ed.

Blessed be the Name of His glorious kingdom forever and ever.

V'ahav'ta eit Adonai Elohekha b'khol l'vav'kha uv'khol naf'sh'kha uv'khol m'odekha.

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

V'hayu had'varim ha'eileh asher anokhi m'tzav'kha hayom al l'vavekha.

And these words that I command you today shall be in your heart.

And you shall teach them diligently to your children, and you shall speak of them.

B'shiv't'kha b'veitekha uv'lekh't'kha vaderekh uv'shakh'b'kha uv'kumekha

When you sit at home, and when you walk along the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up.

Uk'shar'tam l'ot al yadekha v'hayu l'totafot bein einekha.

And you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes.

Ukh'tav'tam al m'zuzot beitekha uvish'arekha.

And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

?

Deuteronomy 11:13-21

V'hayah im shamo'a tish'm'u el mitz'votai

And it shall come to pass if you surely listen to the commandments

Asher anokhi m'tzaveh et'khem hayom

That I command you today

L'ahavah et Adonai Eloheikhem ul'av'do b'khol l'vav'khem uv'khol naf'sh'khem

To love the Lord your God and to serve him with all your heart and all your soul,

V'natati m'tar ar'tz'khem b'ito yoreh umal'kosh

V'asaf'ta d'ganekha v'tirosh'kha v'yitz'harekha.

That I will give rain to your land, the early and the late rains,

That you may gather in your grain, your wine and your oil.

V'natati eisev b'sad'kha liv'hem'tekha v'akhal'ta v'sava'ta.

And I will give grass in your fields for your cattle and you will eat and you will be satisfied.

Hisham'ru lakhem pen yif'teh l'vav'khem

V'sar'tem va'avad'tem Elohim acheirim v'hish'tachavitem lahem

Beware, lest your heart be deceived

And you turn and serve other gods and worship them.

V'charah af Adonai bakhem v'atzar et hashamayim v'lo yih'yeh matar

V'ha'adamah lo titein et y'vulah

And anger of the Lord will blaze against you, and he will close the heavens and there will not be rain,

And the earth will not give you its fullness,

Va'avad'tem m'heirah mei'al ha'aretz hatovah asher Adonai notein lakhem.

And you will perish quickly from the good land that the Lord gives you.

V'sam'tem et d'varai eileh al l'vav'khem v'al naf'sh'khem

Uk'shar'tem otam l'ot al yed'khem v'hayu l'totafot bein eineikhem.

So you shall put these, my words, on your heart and on your soul;

And you shall bind them for signs on your hands, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes.

V'limad'tem otam et b'neikhem l'dabeir bam

And you shall teach them to your children, and you shall speak of them

B'shiv't'kha b'veitekha uv'lekh't'kha vaderekh uv'shakh'b'kha uv'kumekha.

When you sit at home, and when you walk along the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up.

Ukh'tav'tam al m'zuzot beitekha uvish'arekha.

And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

L'ma'an yirbu y'maychem vi-y'may v'naychem al ha-adamah.

Asher nishba Adonai la-avotaychem latayt lahem ki-y'may ha-shamayim al ha-aretz.

In order to prolong your days and the days of your children on the land

That the Lord promised your fathers that he would give them, as long as the days that the heavens are over the earth.

?

Numbers 15:37-41

Vayo'mer Adonai el mosheh lei'mor

And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying...

Dabeir el b'nei Yis'ra'eil v'amar'ta aleihem

Speak to the children of Israel and say to them

V'asu lahem tzitzit al kan'fei vig'deihem l'dorotam

V'nat'nu al tzitzit hakanaf p'til t'kheilet.

They should make themselves tzitzit (fringes) on the corners of their clothing throughout their generations,

And give the tzitzit of each corner a thread of blue.

V'hayah lakhem l'tzitzit ur'item oto uz'khar'tem et kol mitz'vot Adonai

Va'asitem otam v'lo taturu acharei l'vav'khem v'acharei eineikhem

Asher atem zonim achareihem.

And they shall be tzitzit for you, and when you look at them you will remember all of the Lord's commandments

And do them and not follow after your heart and after your eyes, which lead you astray.

L'ma'an tiz'k'ru va'asitem et kol mitz'votai viyitem k'doshim lei'loheikhem

In order to remember and do all My commandments, and be holy for your God.

Ani Adonai Eloheikhem

Asher hotzei'ti et'khem mei'eretz Mitz'rayim lih'yot lakhhem leilohim

Ani Adonai Eloheikhem

I am the Lord, your God who led you from the land of Egypt to be a God to you.

I am the Lord, your God.

Ask yourself, are you really doing the mitzvoth, the duties of the heart of loving God with all your heart, with all of your soul and with all your might? Do you sincerely try to do what is right and just while at home, at work, and on the street? Are you letting your eyes go astray and worshipping other gods, like the god of money, or the god of lust, or the god of ego? Do you try to keep God in your conscience throughout the day? Do your actions make you a good teacher to others?

The above is the way to say the prayer with kavenah. Saying it aloud with fellow congregants as if it were a mantra or some pledge of Jewish allegiance is not kavenah.?? Maimonides (in the Guide for the Perplexed, Part 3, Chapter 51) expresses this point directly: "Do not pray moving your lips with your face to the wall (as if you are engaged deeply in prayer) and all the while you are thinking of your business transactions . . . Do not think you have achieved anything (by doing these things)." My best prayers are not communal, but at home, in quiet, where God can hear me and I can hear Him.

You can say your tephila prayers silently if you wish. Psalm 65:2 says: "To You silence is praise." Each morning, you should consider the day ahead. If you know, for example, that you have a company office party to attend and the sin of gossip (lashon ha ra) is on your chesbon ha nefesh gadol, ask yourself how well you have been avoiding this defect and ask God to help you avoid this defect when you attend the party.

Speaking of gossip, the Chofetz Chaim, Rabbi I. Kagen teaches that lashon ha ra murders not only the subject of the gossip, but the one who gossips and those who listen as well. We have a prayer specifically for this sin in Talmud Tractate Beracoth 16b-17a: "May God guard my tongue from evil and my lips from speaking guile." This is also found is Psalm 34:14.

If ego and showing off are character defects of yours, ask God to "let your name be like dust to everyone." The less you concern yourself with prestige, the less you will let selfishness interfere with your service to God, to your fellows, and to daily spiritual growth and self-improvement. You will also be able to ignore barbs, snubs and insults from others, as they will mean nothing to you.

Remember, prayer is a lifelong process. You will find that the practice evolves over time. As you learn the prayers, you will find some that you like and stay with them. Others, you may not like as much and choose to not say them. This is fine, so long as you are saying your prayers with kavenah. You can pick prayers that you like from our prayer books, or from the TaNaK, especially psalms, or even other spiritual texts.

By continually self judging and striving to do better will keep us from having a life that is hell, Gehenna, on Earth.

?

''Your house shall be wide open, in order that you shall never lack food. Be careful that the doors of your house shall not be closed when you take your meals, that you may not be punished therefor with poverty.'' This is our last section of verse 9:2 of Derek Eretz Zuta and the end of today's class.

?

We have almost all heard and seen at Passover when we go to the door of our homes in the beginning of the Seder, and say in Aramaic, "Let those who are hungry, let them come and eat."

?

Many think this is just what Jews say once a year at a seder. The Talmud?Bavli Tractate Ta'anit 20b?teaches that Rabbi??? Huna would open his door and announce: "Whoever is needy, let him come and eat."? Rabbi announced this every day.

(This is the same Rabbi Huna, who in Tractate Kiddushin stated that ''one should not walk six feet with out a?kippah on his head.'')

?

As we have learned Tsadakkah is the salt, the preservative, for our own wealth and well being.

?"A man saw not his fellow, neither rose any from his place for three days" (the Plague of Darkness, Exodus 10:23). Indeed, there is no greater darkness than one in which "a man saw not his fellow" -- in which a person becomes oblivious to the needs of his fellow man. When that happens, a person becomes stymied in his personal development as well -- "neither rose any from his place." This was taught by?Rabbi Yitzchak Meir of Ger (1789-1866)

?

Our doors should always be open and never shut to those in need. Neither should our hearts and wallets. When we get so jaded in life that we can ignore ?the plight of others, and call those that do care, 'socialists or wealth redistributers,' we are only harming our own souls and our own wealth, even though we think foolishly that we are protecting it.

We?discuss these middot, character traits, of humility, piety , prayer and tzadakkah, ?throughout the?majority of chapters in? ''The? Handbook to Jewish Spiritual Renewal: A Path of Transformation for the Modern? Jew''?' (http://www.jewishspiritualrenewal.net/ )? as well as in most chapters of ''A? Spiritual and Ethical Compendium to the Torah and Talmud''??

World News - Uganda minister shuts down gay rights conference

By msnbc.com staff and news services

A Ugandan cabinet minister accompanied by police raided a gay rights conference, claiming that one of the organizers had insulted him and demanded she be arrested, The Guardian reported on Wednesday.

The minster for ethics and integrity Simon Lokodo told activists that the gathering at a hotel in Entebbe on Tuesday was an "illegal assembly," the newspaper reported.

"You should not allow people to plan the destruction of your country. You cannot allow terrorists to organize to destroy your country," he told the newspaper.

Homosexuality remains taboo in Uganda, where Pentecostal clerics have made the fight against gay culture one of their core messages. Homosexuality is already illegal under Uganda's penal code.

Lokodo also tried to get prominent activist Kasha Jacqueline Nabagesera arrested but she fled before he could, the Guardian reported.

"I wanted to arrest a lady who was abusing me and calling me a liar," Lokodo told the newspaper.

Lokodo's move came days after the country's parliament tabled an anti-homosexuality bill.? While references to the death penalty for some homosexual acts had been removed, it still contained provisions for life imprisonment for "aggravated homosexuality."

The anti-homosexuality bill was reintroduced last week by legislator David Bahati, who said when he first introduced the bill in 2009 that his goal was to protect Ugandan children from Western homosexuals who lure them with money and other promises.

It remained unclear if the bill will ever be voted on by parliamentarians. Analysts said it would be passed immediately and that it had not been considered only because it lacked the political blessing of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, who said it undermines his foreign policy agenda.

The bill has been condemned by leaders in Europe and the U.S., including by President Barack Obama. European countries such as Sweden have threatened to cut aid to Uganda if the bill is passed.

"The knock-on effect of passing this bill would reach far beyond gay and lesbian people in Uganda, impeding the legitimate work of civil society, public health professionals, and community leaders," Michelle Kagari, the deputy program director for Africa at Amnesty International, said in a statement.

?Msnbc.com staff and The Associated press contributed to this report.

Obtaining Product Reviews Before Online Shopping

Home
> computers > Obtaining Product Reviews Before Online Shopping

The ability to locate product reviews just before online shopping is quite helpful for internet customers. All these testimonials can be very helpful for customers who?re trying to make a decision whether or not to purchase a certain item or attempting to review to related items. According to these product reviews the client may make a far more informed determination regarding which products to purchase and which ones to avoid. However, there are various kinds of critiques available and several product reviews are often more helpful than others. This article will discuss item reviews that can be found directly on the internet retailer?s internet site and also product reviews that you can get on websites devoted to compiling product reviews.

Opinions On The Web Retailer?s Internet Site

Several online shops give reviews of products they feature for purchase straight on their very own internet site. All these opinions typically fall into two groups and include shopper product reviews and product reviews provided in terms just for compensation. Buyers who?re utilizing these testimonials to collect information regarding an item might continue but be careful to be sure they know very well what type of comments are available online.

Customer feedback are usually the most effective useful resource for buyers who want to find out about an item. For instance critiques that can come through other people who have purchased as well as utilized the product in question. All these comments are generally completely candid and gives excellent perception look into the kind as well as functionality of the product. On the web customers who get the majority of consumers are pleased with a particular item can be convinced they?ve chosen a top quality merchandise. Conversely on the web customers just how persistently find damaging reviews to a specific item may want to take into account getting a different item.

Online stores also oftentimes feature critiques online through writers who had been paid for to provide a testimonial. If a store compensates an individual to create a evaluate it is usually essential to disclose these details as the evaluation could tend to rate the product more positively compared to they would when they weren?t rewarded to do so.

Websites Provided For Consumers To Review Products

There are also sites available that are devoted to compiling product reviews. This includes sites for example epinions.com. Here customers might look through a variety of items to get further information in the form of product reviews just for products they?re considering buying. The evaluations they find could be incredibly specific as well as valuable as well as they may be simple and provide very little useful information. Individuals are suggested to take into account these opinions carefully specially when there?s a great number of evaluations available which seem to be convinced with regards to the expertise of the item. Yet, when there are certainly only some evaluations available it may be much more hard for the buyer to formulate his very own viewpoint on the item based upon these testimonials published online. Individuals are also advised to ignore evaluations which vary substantially through the majority of the other review posted. All these reviews could be incorrectly mentioning to an unacceptable item or could illustrate an anomaly. Such as when the largest part of comments are extremely positive but one or 2 comments are negative it really is normally adequate to ignore the destructive reviews as long as the company selling the product is trustworthy and there are enough reviews that are positive accessible to encourage the customer the product is worth it.

Greece and Germany's he said/she said over debt crisis

Reporting from Berlin and Athens?

To hear many Germans tell it, Greece is a land blessed with sunshine but cursed with a lying, cheating government that routinely breaks its promises and expects others to pick up the pieces.

The rest of Europe has doled out billions of dollars in emergency loans to keep Greece afloat, but Athens, the Germans say, has consistently failed to deliver on pledges to slash its bloated bureaucracy, sell off state enterprises, go after tax evaders and overhaul its uncompetitive economy.

Yet ask Greeks what's happening to their country, and many respond with yowls of pain and anger ? directed in large part toward Germany. Berlin, they fume, is a tyrannical taskmaster whose only motivation now seems to be to inflict as much punishment as possible on a country whose economy has already been pushed into free fall.

"What more do they want from us?" said Sophia Sigri, a 70-year-old pensioner in Athens. "This crisis has gone way beyond numbers, fiscal policies and austerity measures. Our national dignity now is at stake. Do they want to rob us of that, too?"

The divergent views have become the backdrop against which Europe's long-running debt crisis, now in its third year, is playing out. And the fact that such attitudes appear to be hardening in Berlin and Athens, with animosity and distrust deepening on both sides, is complicating the search for a solution.

Finance ministers of the 17 Eurozone nations are scheduled to consult Wednesday in a conference call that investors hope will result in the provisional approval of a second bailout for Greece, worth about $170 billion. Without the rescue package, the country could slide into default by mid-March, with potentially disastrous consequences for the global economy.

But many in Athens believe that present conditions aren't much better.

Though acknowledging that their government has missed some of the tough financial targets set by international lenders, they say the repeated rounds of stiff austerity cuts have resulted in a spiraling recession during which homelessness, hunger and suicide rates have all gone up.

Public outrage boiled over this week into some of Athens' worst rioting since the start of the crisis in 2009, with dozens of buildings set afire and trashed by rock-throwing youths alongside a peaceful demonstration by thousands. Greek lawmakers swallowed hard and bowed anyway to the demands of their European partners, approving drastic cuts in wages and pensions and the elimination of 15,000 public-sector jobs this year alone, at a time when the unemployment rate already tops 20%.

German and other European officials welcomed the measures. But they warned that they are not enough for them to approve a second bailout Wednesday, insisting that Greece identify $430 million more in spending cuts and seal a deal with private investors on taking a loss on their holdings of Greek debt.

To those Germans who regard Greeks as mendacious, cavalier shirkers of duty, critics point to figures like those released Tuesday showing that, in the last quarter of 2011, Greece's economy contracted by a whopping 7% compared with the same period a year earlier.

Many Greeks have already made heavy sacrifices as the result of one governmental austerity measure after another. The citizens of any other developed country, they say, would surely erupt in anger as well if confronted with the same calamitous drop in their standard of living.

Anti-German rhetoric and images are now a staple in Greece, where politicians mutter darkly of German jackboots and protesters call Chancellor Angela Merkel a Nazi.

"You'd think they would show some compassion for the fact that we went gentle on them after World War II. But no, they want to punish us now," declared Fotis Stathatos, 56, an unemployed construction worker.

Germans bristle at such statements, even as they speak of the need to get even tougher on Greece. Athens is no longer a trustworthy partner but rather a huge sinkhole, many Germans say. They complain that Greek officials have happily accepted outside help while shrugging off solemn promises to lay off thousands of civil servants, privatize state assets and strengthen tax collection.

The lack of follow-through has prompted suggestions from Germany ? unwelcome in Greece ? that a European Union commissioner be given power over Athens' budget and that a separate escrow account be set up to earmark government funds for repaying debt and not for frivolous spending elsewhere.

"The only thing we require is that Greece stick to its commitments," Michael Georg Link, Germany's deputy foreign minister, said in an interview in his Berlin office. "Nobody was forced into the European Union, and we will force nobody out of the European Union or the Eurozone. But once you're in, you have to stick to the rules."

Link said that Italy, Spain and Portugal have also made commitments to difficult reforms.

"All these countries have gone a long way. They are struggling hard to reform themselves, with the support of the countries of the EU and with German solidarity, and we expect the same from Greece," he said.

But there is a growing sense that Germany is trying to separate Greece from other financially troubled Southern European nations, as a way to limit fallout and contagion from a potential default and Greek exit from the euro.

Merkel now insists that making private bondholders take a loss applies only to Greece as a "special case." Her economic minister, Philipp Roesler, said over the weekend that a Greek exit from using the euro was a "less scary" prospect than it once was.

And her finance minister, Wolfgang Schaeuble, was unwittingly caught on camera last week assuring his Portuguese counterpart that, once negotiations with Greece were out of the way, Berlin would look favorably on loosening the conditions of Lisbon's own bailout.

By reserving harder-nosed treatment for Athens, politicians in Berlin are acting in line with German public opinion, said Manfred Guellner, head of the polling institute Forsa. Asked whether Germany ought to help Italy, for example, a majority of Germans say yes. But they say no to more aid to Greece.

In Athens, residents stretched to the breaking point have grown tired of being repeatedly told to do more to atone for their financial sins. Further rage of the kind that broke out this week could await a country already teetering on the brink of economic ruin, some analysts warn.

"Greeks feel like they are being spanked for behaving badly. They're still feeling the pain of that," said Dimitris Mavros of the MRB polling company. "But once that beating stops or subsides ? then they may strike back."
